The War with Mexico Era

Commissioned and General Officers.
Infantry were the elite of the Army and had insignia to denote the destinction.
All other departments wore insignia of their branch color; Staff Officers wearing that of the General Officers.

Major General and General-in-Chief Winfield Scott was breveted to the grade of
