OFFICERS

Any officer who wasn't Artillery/Ordnance, Cavalry, Infantry, or Medical Service branch was considered a Staff Officer.
The uniform differed only in trim color and hat badge.

Generals

Though all general officers of the C.S. Army wore the same insignia of rank on their uniforms, there were different grades of general like any other army. These included; Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General, General, and General-in-Chief.
* The only Confederate States general ever appointed as General-in-Chief was Robert E. Lee. *
